Show at Skippers last night

Postby wilmeland on Sat Jan 30, 2010 1:05 pm

Thanks to the band for another outstanding show. You know, last year I'd posted about "when will they bring back a set with the electric instruments". After last night's show, I tend to think "not really necessary". They really rocked out & nothing was missing. Maybe I'm just gaining more appreciation for their acoustic sound, but I really think that on the songs that call for it, they've brought back more of the feel they had with the electric instruments. I was definitely feeling more energy than I heard on last year's tour. Not that there was anything wrong with last year's show - just the sound last year seemed to be more exclusively acoustic. This year they added some electric edge to the acoustic instruments.

Also, got to see Tommy playing and singing with Beth McKee which was an added treat.

My friend, Mother, just happened to be in Tampa last night, just happened to be at Skippers, and just happened to call me so I could hear Why Can't I Forget About You. He's says Skippers is an incredible place. Last time Mother and I saw the guys was in July 2008 in Reading, PA and we ended up in the hotel bar with John, Steve, Jimmy, Tim, and Drew. Some Mothers have all the luck!

The show at Skipper's was dynamic and earthy, full of soul. In my mind, the subdudes are unrivaled for both their songwriting and their delivery.

Webmaster, I thank you for helping me get onto this forum: I have a message for John and the rest of the band. I'd appreciate it if you could relay this--

We (Norman and Linda and Russ) left a cd with John (Linda Darlin and the Literate League). We neglected to leave contact information. In the event that you'd like to contact us, please respond to this message.

Peace, love, and bar-b-q.
